We are always available to assist our patients with orthodontic emergencies. If you are experiencing severe dental pain, or you have broken your appliances, contact our office right away.
In some cases, you may be able to control the situation until your next scheduled appointment or until your urgent appointment a few days later. Keep pieces of your orthodontics in a plastic bag or envelope and bring them to your next visit. Put soft wax on wires or brackets that are bothering you.
Other orthodontic emergencies need immediate attention from a professional. Dr. Henry will prioritize emergency patients and bring them into our office right away.
Don’t hesitate to call us if you have questions or concerns about your braces. We can help you alleviate the discomfort or schedule an emergency care appointment. The sooner you can reverse your orthodontic emergency, the sooner you can enjoy comfort and a fully operational treatment.
Common Orthodontic Issues
Read on to learn about common orthodontic problems and how to deal with them. Some require emergency care, while others can be maintained until your upcoming appointment.
Loose Appliance | If your bracket, wire, or appliance is loose, give our office a call. Place wax on any pieces that are irritating the mouth.
Broken Appliance | If a bracket or another appliance breaks, leave it in place if possible and call us. If the piece can be removed easily, store it in an envelope and bring it to your next appointment.
General Soreness | Many patients experience soreness and tenderness in the mouth after getting braces or having their braces tightened. This does not qualify as an emergency, but we are happy to help you find solutions to your discomfort. Stick to a soft diet, use a salt-water mouthwash, or take over-the-counter medications to ease any pain.
Feel free to call our office to ask questions about your braces. We want you to enjoy a comfortable, worry-free experience while you wear orthodontics.
If you ever have a dental emergency, we are right here and available to help at Henry Advanced Orthodontics.
